A new local Water Polo club has quickly made waves within the community.

The Vernon Water Polo Club finished up their first-ever winter season in late March.

Launched in January 2025, the club has seen significant growth in participation and enthusiasm from athletes of all ages.

Our players have developed a lot, from learning the fundamentals to building confidence in the water. The energy and excitement around the sport here in Vernon is growing.香蕉视频直播�

Water Polo Canada will be visiting Vernon on April 5 and 6 to officially launch the club's youth water polo program, an important step in expanding the sport and fostering the next generation of players. The program will include skills development workshops and the opportunity for local athletes to learn from Olympic athletes.

For those wanting to try their hand at the sport, and can't attend the April programs, the national Water Polo governing body offers everybody a one-time, free 14-day trial session.

"Anyone who is interested can reach out (through ) and they will set up the free trial to whatever club they are located near," said Lauman. "This is a great initiative, as not everybody has played the sport, and even I only got into the sport at university, as there was nothing on offer in Vernon at the time."

Looking ahead, the Vernon Water Polo Club is preparing for its upcoming spring season, set to begin on April 27, 2025. With momentum from the winter season and national-level support, the club is eager to welcome new and returning athletes.
