Players from all over B.C. came to have a ball in Salmon Arm for the SASCU Open Tennis Tournament over the long weekend, Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The Open, hosted by the Salmon Arm Tennis Club, is one of the largest events outside of the Lower Mainland and saw 90 players attend the event that is "known for the very high calibre of play," tournament director Winston Pain said in a media release.

"Salmon Arm players won four categories and represented the Salmon Arm Tennis Club well," he added.

Local winners include Dallas Mould in the Men's B Singles with "savvy shot making and consistent play," and Ron Donatelli had a decisive consolation win against fellow club member Doug Reedman. Shannon Hecker, with Vernon's Meryl Ogden dominated the Kamloops team to win the Ladies A Doubles, while Lisa Martin Patterson with Joe McFadden of Vernon took the Mixed B Doubles in a "hard fought final" against Kelowna.
