Vernon students spread salvation for Christmas

Seaton Rotary Interact elves deliver backpacks to Salvation Army

Warmth, nutrition and dignity topped the Christmas list of a group of high school students ahead of the holidays.

The small club of 11 W.L. Seaton Secondary Rotary Interact Club youth delivered the goods to those most in need in the community just in time for Christmas.

Thanks to the donations of local businesses, the student elves were able to stuff backpacks full of goods for the Salvation Army.

"We filled 20 backpacks total with supplies purchased from local businesses and a generous donation of jackets from Valhalla Pure," said Alexander Mulder, member of the Interact club that was founded over a decade ago.

Supplies included granola bars, dried fruits and other non-perishable snacks, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, shampoo and body wash, toques, dental hygiene products and canned food items.

It's become an annual tradition the students have taken up.

Last year a similar number of backpacks were filled and donated to the Upper Room Mission.
