The UBCO Heat women's soccer team is adding 10 recruits from B.C. and Alta. for the 2025 season.

The UBC Okanagan (UBCO) Heat women's soccer team is bolstering its roster with 10 promising recruits for the 2025 season.

Five of the new players are staying close to home including Charlotte Schommer (Vernon) and Kat McCleary (Kamloops) who both played for Okanagan United FC.  Katie Chan and Katie Scarth are both from Burnaby. Chan played for the TSS Rovers in League1 BC, and Scarth played with Coastal FC and Premier Academy. Lucy Evans (Port Coquitlam) rounds out the provincial group. She played with Langley United and participated in the PDP Canadian National Championship.

Five players hail from Alberta. Rowan MacPherson (Sherwood Park), Haden Thomas (Edmonton), Maria Georgacacos (Calgary) joins her sister Eleni at UBCO, Brooke Burrows (Calgary) and Julian Hannan (Calgary)

"We have players of all different skill sets. Some are good between the lines, some really good at running in the depth, with some very good in the duel in both attacking and defending," said Craig Smith, head coach. "The potential of this class is very exciting, and they're all great people who will create really strong friendships on the team."

The Heat, coming off a 6-5-3 regular season, set a program record for fewest goals allowed in a single season, conceding only 15 in 14 matches.
