The Mission Lions are the B.C. junior bantam football champions for 2016.
The Lions edged Prince George 8-7 Saturday in the provincial finale in Kamloops.
In a unique, if not controversial format, Kelowna opened the championship playing two 15-minute halves against Prince George and emerging with a 24-0 win.
In their second game, using the same format, the Lions defeated Richmond 32-6.
PG then defeated Richmond in a shootout game to advance against Kelowna.
In the final, Prince George took a 7-0 lead, but the Lions came back with a touchdown and a two-points conversion to score the 8-7 victory.
The Lions, led by head coach Kendall Gross, finished the season unbeaten at 16-0.
