The Okanagan Trestles Tour is all set for Sunday, July 2.
More than 600 pparticipants from across Western Canada and beyond come annually to ride the historic KVR Rail Trail. The fully supported ride is not a race (no timing/no results), participants are encouraged to bring their cameras and enjoy the day.
There are three distance choices: 80, 40 or 20 km. The 80 km route is the most popular as it starts at Myra Canyon (a national historic site) with 18 trestles and 2 tunnels.
This year the Okanagan Trestles Tour is celebrating Canada 150 and the official opening of the Trans Canada Trail. The KVR is part of the Trans Canada Trail network. Everyone will get a souvenir red and white event shirt with the Canada 150 logo.
The Okanagan Trestles Tour is a one day cycling event for all ages and abilities. The ride is flat and 2 per cent downhill with incredible views of the Okanagan Valley.
The 40km route starts at Chute Lake (the half way point of the 80 km ride) and the 20 km route starts at Glen Fir (above Naramata) with all events finishing in Penticton.
As bikers arrive in Penticton, theyÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™ll be greeted by live music, a BBQ, wine, Cannery Beer and Sun Rype Cider.
