The public has helped a Vernon-based organization drive up funding.
North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) received a cheque for $10,000 from Vernon Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Friday, April 11.
The money was raised through the dealership's Drive For A Cause program where every 100th vehicle sold triggers a $10,000 donation to a charity selected customers.
"This significant contribution will directly support our Hospice at Home and Grief and Bereavement programs, enabling us to extend compassionate care and support to individuals and families in our community," said Kristin Ford, hospice fund development and communication officer."
The Hospice at Home program brings professional end-of-life care into the homes of those wishing to spend their final days surrounded by loved ones. This initiative offers comprehensive services, including nursing care, counselling, and volunteer support, ensuring comfort and dignity for patients and their families
Grief and Bereavement services provide essential support to individuals coping with the loss of a loved one.
"Through counselling, support groups, and community outreach, we aim to help individuals navigate their grief journey with compassion and understanding," said Ford.
As these programs operate without government funding, community support is vital.

Dealership business development manager Tanis Clark said their patrons are the ones who drive the charity.
"We couldn't do this without our valued customers and clients," said Clark. "We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated, and we hope more people will come out and help our Drive For a Cause."
