If elected as Member of Parliament for the soon-to-be federal riding of Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee, Scott Anderson said he would bring a common sense viewpoint to the nation's capital.
Anderson, from Vernon, has been accepted as a nominee for the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for the new federal riding, which comes into being when the federal election is called (must be held no later than Oct. 20).

He is also a North Okanagan business owner, and interim leader of the BC Conservatives.

Anderson has been involved with Conservative politics since 1993, when he first went to Ottawa for several months as a legislative assistant for an MP. He has been a member of the North Okanagan Shuswap Constituency Association since 2014 and has remained active at all three levels of government.
The party's nomination period closed on Feb. 26, and the official nomination vote will take place Sunday, March 16, from 1:45-6:30 p.m. at the Coldstream Community Hall, 9909 Kalamalka Rd.
Teresa Durning, current Vernon councillor who served on council with Anderson after winning a by-election in 2021-22, also accepted the nomination for the riding.
Kelowna morning show radio co-host Toby Tannas is also on the ballot Sunday, as is Vernon business owner Rachel Enns.
Tannas took to social media Monday, March 10, hoping for support in the vote.
