In another great battle between two rivals and the cream of the crop in the BCHLÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Interior Conference, the West Kelowna Warriors fell 4-3 in overtime to the Penticton Vees on Friday night.

The scoring opened at the 11:50 mark of the first period when Jack Pridham scored his 21st goal of the season for the Warriors, assisted by Trey Ausmus and Callum Hughes.

But just 34 seconds later, Larry Keenan scored his fifth goal of the year for Penticton to tie the game.

The teams traded goals again in the second period as Jackson Kyrkostas scored his 22nd goal of the year on the powerplay, assisted by Isaiah Norlin and Hughes. Connor MacPherson tied the game with his 11th goal of the season for the Vees.

In the third period, Carter Oakenfold scored his first goal as a Warrior and first career BCHL goal to give West Kelowna a 3-2 lead.

The Vees tied the game just 21 seconds later when Billy Renfrew found the back of the net for the 18th time this season.

Thomas Pichette was the hero for the Vees in overtime, scoring his 17th of the campaign.

With the win, the Vees clinched the top spot in the Interior Conference.

Rorke Applebee made 29 saves in the loss for the Warriors, who are now 29-10-11-0 this season, second in the conference.

The Warriors are back in action next weekend in Trail to take on the Smoke Eaters. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Cominco Arena on Friday, Mar. 22.
