Okanagan College swings their way to successful weekend against Edmonton

The Okanagan College Coyotes are tied for first in the Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC) standings after going 3-1 against Edmonton Collegiate over the weekend.

It started on Friday night (Apr. 5) with a 7-3 win. Shortstop Conrad Timmerman led the offense in game one, going 2-3 with three RBIs.

Pitcher Cory Lawson threw six innings, allowing two runs and striking out 10 batters. In his season debut, Corbin Mossop earned a three-inning save, striking out four batters.

In the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, the Coyotes found themselves down 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh but responded with five runs in the inning on their way to an 8-4 win. Ryan Dousett went 3-5 at the plate while Matt Boychuk and Rico Domingo each drove in two runs.

Teagan Ribbink threw 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out 12 batters. However, Lyndon Sinclair earned the win in relief, his first of the season.

In the second game of the day, Edmonton got in the win column, beating the Coyotes 6-4. Okanagan College just fell short in their comeback effort in the contest. They were down 6-0 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, where they scored four runs to make it close but couldn香蕉视频直播檛 quite complete the comeback.

Anthony Wyslobocki suffered the loss, despite allowing just one run over seven innings. He struck out 11 batters.

On Sunday, the fourth and final game of the weekend was the most dramatic as the Coyotes walked off Edmonton, beating them 8-7 in 10 innings.

Domingo drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning. Aiden Wensman went 1-3 with a two-RBI double.

Zander Oudie Senger earned the win in relief, throwing 3.2 innings, and striking out six batters.

By going 3-1 on the weekend, the Coyotes are tied with Edmonton and Thompson Rivers University for first place in the CCBC standings at 5-3.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Dousett is second in the league with a .444 batting average. He香蕉视频直播檚 also fourth in the league with six RBIs.

On the pitching side, Ribbink leads the league with 21 strikeouts while Lawson is tied in wins with two.

The Coyotes continue their massive homestand to start the season this weekend as they welcome the defending CCBC champions, the Calgary Dinos to town. The two teams will play at 6 p.m. on Friday night (Apr. 12), 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday night, and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
