Just four more sleeps until a flurry of fun settles into Vernon for 10 days.
Vernon Winter Carnival is going Back to The '80s for its 65th year with a full forecast of events from Feb. 7-16.
But there are some storm clouds that have forced a couple changes to Carnival.
"Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not get the memo that itÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s winter until this past weekend," said Lisa Fenyedi, executive director.
Warmer than normal temperatures and a lack of snow has shifted the B.C. Snow Sculpture Competition again this year.
Ice Carving will take place instead with Tyler Welfing, of CarvWel Creations, at SilverStar.
He will carve five ice blocks in the allotted 48 hours that the snow sculptors would normally receive to complete their creations.
Welfing will be joined by Shea Larkin to complete the five sculptures together and the public chooses the best one with a People's Choice vote.
"Tyler is incredibly talented and we look forward to seeing what he comes up with to carve this year," said Fenyedi.
A few other Carnival events that have been cancelled include the Okanagan Science Centre's Great Scott! Escaping the '80s event Feb. 8; Moonwalk Mania Family Dance at the Schubert Centre Feb. 10; Carnival Kickball at NÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™kwala Park Feb. 15; and Snogolf at NÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™kwala Park Feb. 15.
"We greatly appreciate the support of all of our event partners, the volunteers that help make these events possible, and the support our community who eagerly await tickets to Vernon Winter Carnival year over year," said Fenyedi. "We understand that these cancellations and changes may be disappointing to some. We hope that those who have been affected will join us at other events those days and continue to help us celebrate these wonderful events that bring our community together as we celebrate our 65th year of Vernon Winter Carnival."

Since 1961, Carnival's mission has been to foster community spirit and promote Vernon as a Winter destination.
