Forestry crews were treated to a delicious surprise on Sunday as they were removing sandbags from the Five Bridges area in Kelowna.

Ellen Hassell, a former Mackenzie resident found out the crew working on her street was from her hometown and wanted to show appreciation for their hard work Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” by buying Dairy Queen Dilly Bars for everyone.

The crews thanked Hassell, enjoyed their ice cream and even took a photo with her.

Crews are currently removing sandbags from public lands, and from some private property, to minimize ecological impacts to creeks and streams no longer at risk of flooding.

Some easily accessible sandbags that were no longer needed in some of these areas were also removed and redeployed in other locations as needed.
