The West Kelowna Warriors found that one goal was good enough Tuesday night as Reed GunvilleÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s overtime winner sparked a 1-0 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs at Royal LePage Place.
The Chiefs came hard at the Warriors to start, leading in shots by an 8-3 margin at one point in the frame but Warriors netminder Shane Farkas was dialed in, as he was all night, making 12 saves in the opening stanza.
The 2nd period saw a bit of disarray, including a disallowed goal that went off the skate of Chiefs forward Linden Hora and was deemed to have been kicked in.
The game remained scoreless with the shots reading 27-17 in favour of the visiting Chiefs.
The 3rd period saw more shots and even more of Shane Farkas doing his best impression of a brick wall; stopping all 15 shots fired his way in the frame and all 42 that he saw through the course of regulation.
The Warriors also found the skinny red pipe in the regulation as Quin ForemanÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s right circle try rang iron.
The game headed into overtime and didnÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t take long to decide a winner as just 1:09 in, the Warriors Gunville deflected home a Jake Harrison point shot to win the game. It is GunvilleÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s 4th goal of the season and he has now scored the Warriors last two goals in as many games.
Shane Farkas was as perfect as can be, making 42 saves for his first career BCHL shutout and his 3rd victory of the season while Mark Sinclair is the hard luck loser tonight, stopping 28 of 29 shots in the overtime defeat.
The Warriors (5-3-0-0) are back in action Friday night when the home stand continues against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (2-6-0-0). Puck drop is 7:00 pm with tickets available at the Warriors office or by calling Kim at (250) 769-7051.
