Vernon volleyball player recipient of Dahl Foundation scholarship

Ava Marginson was the recipient of the $5,000 scholarship, to go towards her post-secondary career

A volleyball maestro in Vernon has been given a prestigious community-based scholarship to help her on furthering her playing and academic career.

Ava Marginson is receiving the $5,000 Emly Dahl Foundation scholarship.

Marginson has been a long-time athlete at the SKY volleyball program, starting her club journey at the U14 level.

"Ava has excelled at volleyball within SKY and for her school teams throughout the years," said Sky head coach Cory Hoard. "Ava's play is not just what got her noticed and ultimately awards this scholarship, it was her exceptionally written application and efforts within the community that set her apart."

For the fall, Marginson will be joining the Trent University volleyball team in Peterborough, ON.

"The Emily Dahl Foundation is not only a tribute to Emily's wisdom and grace, but it is a celebration of her teachings and purpose," said Marginson. "Joining the past recipients is an honour."

In its fourth year, the scholarship, in partnership with Community Foundation North Okanagan, looks to reward a volleyball player whose skill and kindness in community shines through.
