The Vernon Vipers' extensive mid-season roster shuffle is continuing, with the team adding another defenceman in the wake of two players' departures to other leagues, including the team's leading goal scorer.
On Friday the Vipers announced the signing of 19-year-old Swedish defenceman Noah Ideback. Standing six-foot-three-inches tall and weighing 194 pounds, the right-handed defenceman adds some size to the Vipers' blueline.
This season, Ideback served as the captain of the HV71 J20 team in Sweden, where he showcased his leadership and high-calibre play.

Along with the signing, the Vipers announced that forwards Landon MacDonald and George Stavrianeas have decided to leave the team. MacDonald is second on the Vipers in points with 21 and leads the team in goals with 13. Stavrianeas had three goals and nine assists in 27 games with the Vipers this season.
Stavrianeas is moving to the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The Vipers did not disclose which NAHL team he is moving to.
MacDonald is off to the United States Hockey League, where he will suit up for the Madison Capitols, according to Elite Prospects.
"The Vipers would like to thank both George and Landon for their contributions to the hockey club," the team said.
With the departures, the Vipers now have only five players who were on the roster to open the season. Those players are goaltender Marko Bilic and forwards Will Schumacher, Luke Bibby, Koji Gibson and Keeghan Dunn.
The Vipers welcome the West Kelowna Warriors to town tonight for a 7 p.m. puck drop at Kal Tire Place.
The Sherwood Park Crusaders are in town Saturday against the Snakes for a 6 p.m. game.
The Vipers head to Alberta next weekend to take on the Brooks Bandits Friday, Jan. 10 and then the Spruce Grove Saints Saturday, Jan. 11.
