Chalk up another weekend split for the Kelowna Sun Devils in B.C. midget AAA baseball action.
At Lombardy Park on Saturday, the Aldergrove Dodgers took both ends of a doubleheader from the Sun Devils.
In a pitcher's duel, Aldergrove took the series opener 4-3. Jay Taylor was solid in taking the loss, going the distance while allowing only one earned run and striking out three.
Brandon Denis led the way at the plate for Kelowna with a pair of hits.
In Game 2, the Dodgers whipped the error-plagued Sun Devils 17-8.
Jackson Miner, Zane Webber, Noah Ringness-Law and Gavin Barrett each had two hits for Kelowna.
On Sunday, the Sun Devils rebounded with a sweep of the last-place Chilliwack Cougars. Gavin Barrett threw a four-hit shutout in the opener en route to a 13-0 win.
Jackson Miner and Spencer Klassen led the charge, each going 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Jon McCarthy went deep crushing a three-run home run. Klassen and McCarthy each had three RBIs.
In the series finale, Kensi Renneberg pitched five solid innings in relief allowing only one hit to pick up her second win of the year.
Leading the offensive charge was Barrett who was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
The Sun Devils (9-9) will return to action Sunday when they host Richmond for a doubleheader at Lombardy.
