The Shuswap U19 AG Misfits proved to be a good fit, winning gold at the recent provincial championships.

The team, consisting of athletes from across the region, was in Richmond March 20-23 for the B.C Provincial Championships, where they won gold as the 2025 U19 AG Champions.

In round-robin action, the Misfits finished with three wins and one tie, taking first place in the division. In the semi-final, the Misfits defeated Terrace in overtime with a 4-3 win, earning them a spot in the gold medal final.

The final game saw the Shuswap team face off against the Burnaby Sting, who they tied in the round robin. The Misfits went on to defeat the Sting 10-3 for the gold medal and title as Provincial Champions.

"This provincial championship is especially sweet for this group of athletes," said Shuswap Ringette coach Leigh Robinson explaining how, at the start of the season, it wasn't known if there would be a team or local league to play in. "They were able to find players from across the region looking for a place to play who were committed to the sport and wanting a season in whatever form they could get it. They aptly named themselves the Misfits and, with the help of their staff of committed coaches, they pulled off an exceptional season."

Robinson said the Misfits made it to the final games in every tournament they entered, called them "a team of athletes who triumphed through adversity and succeeded against the odds all season."
