Raiders fall to 'Rocks

Kelowna still looking for first win in senior men's lacrosse

A rough first period sunk the Kelowna Raiders Friday night in Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League action.

The Armstrong Shamrocks scored nine times in the first 20 minutes en route to an 11-4 win over the hometown Raiders at Memorial Arena.

Rookie Steve McIlwrath scored four times for the 'Rocks in the opening period and finished with six goals on the night.

Armstrong's defense stifled Kelowna shooters, allowing just two goals over the final two periods.

KelownaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s defense, led by goalie Graham Cousins and defenders Dillon MacLennan, Sean Blake, Andrew Gordon, Evan Helgesen and Cody Ridden, put a lid on the Armstrong offence after the first period.

For Kelowna, rookie Ryan Lindstrom scored a pair with singles from Victor Wiens and Evan Helgesen.

The Raiders (0-4) return to action Saturday, May 28 when they visit Armstrong. The next home game is Saturday, June 4 against the Shamrocks at Memorial Arena.
