For the Okanagan Mission Secondary School's (OKM) Huskies senior girls volleyball team, it's time to celebrate.
On Saturday, Nov. 30, the team won the AAAA provincial volleyball championships, beating Riverside Secondary 3-2.
OKM was down 2-0 after losing the first two sets 25-20 and 25-24. They stormed back to force a fifth and final set after winning the third and fourth sets 25-21 and 25-22.
In the provincial championship-clinching set, OKM found themselves down 14-9 but battled back to win 17-15, putting themselves on top of the volleyball world in B.C.
"I'm so proud of the resilience and teamwork this team displayed throughout the season," said Huskies' head coach Rob Steciuk. "I believe in working on team culture and resilience as a foundation for great athletes, students, and citizens. The way these athletes competed as a small fish in a big pond and bounced back to succeed shows incredible character that goes beyond the wins."
The school's senior boys team finished fourth at the AAA provincials.
