The Lakers take on the Edmonton Jr. Oilers, the Pacific Region representatives, in a battle of 1-0 teams Monday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at KTP. Edmonton opened the six-team event on Sunday with a 3-1 win over QuebecÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s LÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™Intrépide de lÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™Outaouais.

That victory gave the Lakers an automatic spot in the tournament, but also a full month off ahead of the Esso Cup.

The other game on opening day saw OntarioÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s North York Storm defeating the West Region champion Regina Rebels 7-6 in overtime, with Sydney Bowness scoring the winner at 4:22 of the extra period.
