More than 100 skiers from across the globe will hit the Apex slopes next week for the first Canada Cup freestyle event of the season.

The 2025 Apex Classic returns from Dec. 12 to 15, as 80 Canadians and an additional 30 international mogul athletes look to impress in front of seven "highly-ranked" judges.

"National team coaches use this event as a scouting opportunity to get a reading of athletes aged 14 to 24 skiing bumps and jumps," Apex Mountain officials said. "This is the first opportunity for most athletes and coaches to evaluate whether they put in enough work during the offseason."

The Apex Freestyle Club, based about 45 minutes west of Penticton, will be represented at the event by Emelie McCaughey, Jackson Kendell, and Triggs Markle. Coached by Alexa Chick, the local team will have Francesca Farcau conducting forerunning duties.

Athletes from Japan, Australia, and Great Britain will also be at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation-sanctioned competition.

Results from the competition Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” which will take place on the mountain's three-lane mogul run Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” will be valued in the Canada Cup Rankings, with the top-placing skiers to receive invitations to North American Cup (NorAm) events.

Course development and practice are planned for the first two days of the event, before single moguls and dual moguls competitions take centre stage on Dec. 14 and 15.

People are encouraged to visit the resort and cheer on the athletes. All events are free to watch.

The Apex Freestyle Club and Gunbarrel Saloon are also hosting a banquet on Dec. 14, to give people a chance to mingle with athletes, coaches and volunteers. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at .
