Another split for Sun Devils

In keeping with a season-long trend, the Kelowna Sun Devils earned a split of four games over the weekend in B.C. 18U AAA baseball action.

On Saturday in Vernon, the Devils opened up the weekend with a 10-3 win over the Canadians.

Gavin Barrett (7-0., 0.96 ERA) earned his seventh win of the season with a complete game five-hitter.

Noah Ringess-Law had three hits, Barrett had three RBIs, while Jay Taylor drove in a pair.

In Game 2, the Canadians overcame a 5-0 deficit to beat Kelowna 9-6.

Brandon Mallam-Kunz was a home run away from hitting for the cycle as he collected a single, a double, a triple and two RBIs in the loss.  Kensington Renneberg took the loss going four innings and allowing three earned runs.

On Saturday in Aldergrove, the Dodgers beat the Sun Devils 4-3 in the opener.

Jordan Laidlaw went seven innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out three.

Noah Ringness-Law, Brandon Denis and Jackson Sowerby each had two hits.

In the series finale, Jay Taylor went six innings for his second win as the Sun Devils won 9-8.

Noah Ringness-Law had a a solo home run, a double and a single, while Denis had two RBIs.

The Sun Devils (12-12) will be at home for a pair of doubleheaders this weekend at Edith Gay, taking Cowichan on Saturday and Nanaimo Sunday.
