Letter: Big bouquet to hospice staff

Central Okanagan Hospice Association staff fulfill a dream.

To the editor:

Dawn arrived at hospice on a Wednesday afternoon, but she wanted to see her daughter Chelsea get married.  A minister was asked to the hospice the next day to perform the ceremony, they asked about a room they could use.

The staff started to organize, they decorated the meeting room with white tulle and rose petals, a heart of red rose petals for the bride and groom to stand in, small white bouquets decorating the chairs, a bride's bouquet and corsage for the mother of the bride were donated when the staff talked to a local florist and explained the situation.

The staff went home that night and baked squares, they made a punch. The staff showed excitement in doing something happyÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”a last wish to a patient.

It was an emotional time. Dawn was under heavy medication when Chelsea and Ryan were introduced as being married. Everyone clapped, Dawn opened her eyes and clapped also, she knew she was at the wedding.

Thank you to all the caring staff and volunteers that made this possible, you are great.
