Spike belt deployed in Okanagan-wide police chase

RCMP were tracking a stolen truck across the Okanagan on Monday evening.

A red Ford F-250 was stolen from the back parking lot of Cue Connections around 9:40 p.m. It was later found by RCMP on Vancouver Hill, at which time the driver sped away down Front Street and seen driving towards Summerland. It was seen in that community around 2 a.m. on Rosedale Avenue before taking off again.

West Kelowna Mounties were made aware of the situation and observed the stolen truck. They successfully deployed a spike belt stopping the vehicle near the Seclusion Bay turnoff from Highway 97.

香蕉视频直播淎fter the tires were punctured the vehicle  turned on the westbound on-ramp against traffic on Highway 97C. The truck went down a ditch and an embankment,香蕉视频直播 said Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth.

RCMP saw a non-white male fleeing on foot from the stolen truck.

香蕉视频直播淭here was a track from the police dog for about a kilometre and about the same time police received a report from a driver of a flat deck semi that a First Nations male tried jumping onto the flat deck of his trailer,香蕉视频直播 said Wrigglesworth.

The track was lost by the police dog and the driver is still at large.

The vehicle was recovered and seized to attempt to lift possible prints. Anyone with information can contact at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
