An avid Shuswap sledder is looking for a flurry of votes as he vies against top talent in the annual Alpine Sled Style worldwide snowmobiling video competition.
The contest invites top riders to submit a two-minute video of their high octane action, with those submissions then voted on by the public and panel of judges, with each naming a winner. Turtle Valley resident Ty Desrochers, 26, is one of those chosen riders and currently leading the pack with 1,794 votes, and going full throttle to maintain that top spot.
"Up against some heavy hitters in the alpine sled style contest!" he said in a Facebook post encouraging people to vote. "Get you, your brother, sister, girlfriend, wife and chihuahua to vote for your favourite video!"

Those votes are critical now as the competition nears the finish line, closing on Nov. 16 at 12 p.m., with the second place contender, Sweden's Andreas Bergmark, hot on his heels. Also in the running is 2021 winter Brett Turcotte of Kamloops, as well as American riders Nik Pahno and Kyle Saxton who won in 2023 and 2022 respectively.
To help Desrochers reach the peak this year, vote for the longtime sledder, whose contest biography says he "hasn't missed a riding season since his dad put him on an Arctic Cat Kitty Cat at age two," online at .
