Heading into the Canada Day long weekend, hereÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s the latest information about the status of Regional District waterfront parks and ongoing park closures.

The following waterfront parks with beach areas are open, although people may not find much beach area due to the continued record high lake levels.

· Traders Cove Regional Park

· Kalamoir Regional Park

· Raymer Bay Regional Park

· Kaloya Regional Park

· Reiswig Regional Park

· Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park

· Bertram Creek Regional Park

At this time there are no known issues with water quality although visitors may expect to find debris along the shoreline at these waterfront parks. You can check the latest information on beach water quality by visiting the Interior Health website Recreational Water page. Please do not remove any debris as it continues to protect against wave erosion. Anyone swimming should watch for and avoid any floating debris.

Effective immediately, the previously closed half-kilometre section of the Water Front Trail in Kalamoir Regional Park is open again. However, sandbag protection remains in place and visitors are asked to stay off the sandbag dike to prevent any damage.

The Regional District encourages residents and visitors to the Central Okanagan to explore the many regional parks that remain open and are completely accessible. ItÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s a great opportunity for people to visit a new regional park and check out the unique features, geography and amenities. You can find them at www.regionaldistrict.com/pickapark.

The following Regional and Community Parks are closed until further notice:

· Antlers Beach Regional Park near the south end of Peachland

· Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour Regional Park on Okanagan Centre Road West in Lake Country

Glen Canyon Regional Park from the Acorn bridge downstream to the Gellatly Road parking area and from the Constable Neil Bruce entrance upstream to the Covington Crescent entrance at Last Mountain Community Park

Hardy Falls Regional Park

Mill Creek Regional Park

· Fintry Community Park Access #1 (boat launch)

· Killiney Beach Community Park Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ including the boat launch

When itÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s safe, Regional Parks staff will be assessing the condition of bridges, trails and other infrastructure in these closed parks. Please be aware that parks may be closed on short notice if conditions change.
