One man was arrested in connection with the Monday morning shooting and arson at Punjabi artist AP Dhillon's home on Ravenwood Rd in Colwood.

A man has been charged in connection with shooting up the Colwood home belonging to Punjabi artist AP Dhillon and for setting fire to two vehicles on Ravenwood Road in early September.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, police in Ontario arrested 25-year-old Abjeet Kingra of Winnipeg, who has since been charged with discharge of a firearm with Intent and arson in connection to the Sept. 2 incident.

On that date, police located two vehicles on fire and evidence that multiple shots had been fired at, and into, a residence. An occupant of the residence was evacuated by police and Colwood Fire Department extinguished the vehicle fires, according to West Shore RCMP.

Following the incident, a video circulated, which was assumed to have been filmed by one of the perpetrators, showed someone firing at least 14 shots into the front of the home.

An unendorsed arrest warrant has also been issued for 23-year-old Vikram Sharma in connection to the incident. Police believe that Sharma is currently in India.

Sharma, who is wanted for discharging a firearm with intent and arson, is described as a South Asian man, 5'9", 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police do not have a photo of Sharma at this time.

"West Shore RCMP officers have been working diligently through this investigation which has led to the identification of the suspects involved. We will continue to pursue this investigation as well as the outstanding suspect until they have been located and arrested," noted Supt Todd Preston, officer in charge of West Shore RCMP, in a news release.

Media reports at the time claimed the incident was linked to extortion attempts on the South Asian business community across the country, with saying an associate of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the attack on social media.

AP Dhillon made history last year as the first Punjabi language artist to perform at the 2023 Juno Awards.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sharma are asked to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
