Update: Sep. 18, 6 a.m.

The Glen Lake wildfire is now estimated at 445 hectares.

The BC Wildfire Service says crews and aerial resources are currently responding to the incident. Fire behavior observed throughout Sunday (Sep 17) was moderate to extremely vigorous.

Eight properties in the area are under evacuation order.

There is a special air quality statement in effect by Environment Canada due to the wildfire-induced smokey conditions.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers in the region daily until Wednesday.

Update: 7:40 p.m.

The Glen Lake wildfire is now an estimated 150 hectares.

BC Wildfire has one initial attack team as well as heavy equipment working the blaze.

Environment Canada is calling for wind gusts of up to 40 km/hr.

Monday will be mainly cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers in the morning and early in the afternoon.

Update 3 p.m.

The Glen Lake Wildfire has grown to 100 hectares in less than 24 hours since it sparked.

The fire is showing moderate to extremely vigorous behaviour.

Update 1:45 p.m.

An evacuation order has been issued for eight properties on and near Glen Lake FSR.

The Glen Lake wildfire west of Peachland has also prompted an evacuation order for all areas south of Peachland FSR from the five-kilometre marker past Brenda FSR to the boundary between the South and Central Okanagan regional districts.

Update: 11:35 a.m.

One initial attack crew, aerial resources, heavy equipment, and an incident management team have been assigned to the Glen Lake wildfire which is burning out of control near Peachland.

The BC Wildfire Service describes the blaze as Rank 3 to 5, meaning it is a moderately to extremely vigorous surface fire with torching and active crown behaviour.

The fire may be highly visible to surrounding communities and travelers along Highway 97C.

The Grouse Complex, which includes the McDougall Creek wildfire in West Kelowna, the Walroy Lake fire in Kelowna and the Clarke Creek blaze in Lake Country, has taken over management of the Glen Lake fire.

Update: 10 a.m.

The BC Wildfire Service has updated the size of the Glen Lake fire burning west of Peachland to 75 hectares.

It is now a wildfire of note.

An out-of-control wildfire is burning about 15 kilometres west of Peachland.

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says the human-caused blaze was discovered around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept 16.

It is currently 10 hectares in size.

There are no evacuation orders or alerts associated with the fire, according to the BCWS.
