Many families across the province will be spending their Christmas at BC Children's Hospital this year.
Despite these circumstances, the child and youth therapeutic services team wants to still make the holiday season magical for patients.
"(We) will be working to bring special moments to kids and their families," reads an email statement from BC Children's Hospital.
One patient in particular will not be able to make it back to Nakusp in time for Christmas, as her final cancer treat is scheduled on Dec. 27.
At six, Isabella was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor, which is a cancer that develops from kidney cells. After undergoing surgery, doctors then detected cancer in her heart, removing a part of it.
"Since then, Isabella has been taking her recovery one day at a time, with the support of the dedicated experts at BC ChildrenÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Hospital, who are working tirelessly to treat her cancer. While she wonÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t be able to make it home for Christmas, she will be surrounded by her family Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” and thatÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s what matters most to her," continues the statement.
Isabella, with her family in tow, are planning to head back to Nakusp before the New Year.
