BX-Swan Lake Fire Rescue members are on-scene Friday, March 7, at a property on McLeish Road, off East Vernon Road, following a call reporting "smoke in the grass" at the property.

From thermal imaging cameras to training and equipment upgrades, support is coming to keep communities safer through provincial funds.

Through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF), the provincial government is providing more than $9 million for more than 130 projects throughout B.C., supporting over 230 fire departments that are fully or partially staffed by volunteers. This funding helps fire departments conduct and expand training, buy or replace equipment, and expand their capacity.

The Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department is replacing and upgrading personal protective equipment with $28,562 in funds.
