Emergency supports continue for Vernon fire victims

Residents displaced since Jan. 3 blaze

Support continues to flow for the dozens of residents who were displaced from a downtown Vernon apartment due to a suspicious fire.

The blaze broke out early Friday, Jan. 3 in the parking lot at the back of the 30th Avenue building.

While most Emergency Social Services (ESS) supports run out after a few days, it is continuing for residents of the apartment as they wait to get back in.

The city of Vernon says ESS continues, including coordinating with other organizations to provide supports.

The fire started in one of the cars parked next to the building, spreading to a second vehicle and the apartment.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP have deemed the fire suspicious and ask anyone with information to call the non-emergency line at 250-545-7171.

Or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at .

You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
