Entries have been rolling in for the City of Salmon Arm's snow plow naming contest, which is set to close on Dec. 16, 2024.

There's less than a week left before the City of Salmon Arm makes a big decision: what to name the new snow plow.

Last month in partnership with School District 83, launched a month-long contest to name Salmon Arm's new plow. The city asked for "snow-worthy names for this essential winter vehicle," along with original drawings.

"ItÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s a fantastic way for them to express their artistic talents and community spirit while engaging in a real-world project that will be visible around town all winter long," read a post shared by the school district.

On Monday, Dec. 9, the city shared a reminder via social media that there's still time to get those creative contest entries in.

"We are one week away from closing the Name the Snow Plow ContestÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”and wow, your winter-tastic ideas have been snowing us over!Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¦," reads a post by the city. "DonÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t let this opportunity get snowed under Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” plow through with your best idea before December 16 at 4 p.m.," reads a social media post by the city.

The selected winning names will be shared publicly, with the winners receiving "some cool City of Salmon Arm swag as a thank-you for their creativity and community spirit."

Entries can be dropped off at city hall (Box 40, 500 2 Avenue NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 4N2) between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Scanned entries can be emailed to info@salmonarm.ca. Entries can also be posted via social media with the hashtag #SalmonArmSnowStar.
