Two separate trials will be held for the four people charged in relation to the murder of Taig Savage near Penticton Secondary School in 2021.

The BC Prosecution Service confirmed by email that there will be two trials, with three youths being tried separately from Isaac H. Jack, who is being tried as an adult.

Charges took more than two years to be brought forward after countless pleas from Savage's family for answers.

Police announced the arrests in April of 2024, and stated at the time that those arrested were either remaining in custody or under orders to appear in court.

All four had court appearances scheduled on Sept. 19 and three were let out on release orders.

One of the youths did not appear in court, and there is an outstanding warrant for their arrest.

Due to the fact that they are under 18, there is a publication ban through the Youth Criminal Justice Act on anything that could identify who they are.

Just before 6 a.m. on Sept. 5, 2021, a passerby out for a walk discovered Savage, injured and unresponsive, lying on the track at Penction Secondary School.

Officers were called by paramedics, and the situation into a homicide investigation just days before the school year began.

It took more than a week to release Savage's identity, and the manner of his death has never been disclosed, something which frustrated SavageÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s family over the years.

Jack and the other two youths are currently scheduled to return to Penticton Provincial Court on Oct. 9.
