The West Kelowna Warriors finished off the preseason with two wins on home ice.
On Friday, Sept, 13, the Warriors beat the Penticton Vees 4-3 in overtime.
After a scoreless first period, goals came fast and furious in the second as three goals were scored in under two minutes. Frankie D'Ancona scored for the Warriors, followed by Vees' forward Michael Fisher scoring 25 seconds later. Seventy-three seconds later, Caden Kemkaran-Humble found the back of the net to make it 2-1 for West Kelowna.
With just under two minutes to go in the period, Luke Posthumus scored for Penticton to tie the game 2-2. Just 1:36 into the third period, the Vees took their first lead of the game when Conyr Hellyer scored. Later in the frame, Callum Hughes scored a powerplay goal for the Warriors to tie the game 3-3.
The game went to overtime where Warriors' Elias Callgren scored his second goal of the preseason to give West Kelowna the 4-3 win. Warriors goaltender Dawson Labre made 27 saves in the win.
Two days later, the Warriors welcomed the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to Royal LePage Place for some afternoon hockey. They were led by a first period goal from Landen Hilditch and a third period goal from Eliot Compton on their way to a 2-0 win.
Ayo Ogini made 22 saves in the shutout win for the Warriors.
The Warriors open the 2024-25 season on the road against the Cranbrook Bucks on Friday, Sept. 20 and the Trail Smoke Eaters on Saturday, Sept. 21.
