With Tij IginlaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s hat-trick to lead the way, the Kelowna Rockets beat the Spokane Chiefs Saturday (Oct. 7) night at Prospera Place.
Iginla scored three goals, and added an assist, as the Rockets racked up a 6-3 win over the Chiefs.
SpokaneÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Carter Streek opened the scoring at 8:06 of the first period, with KelownaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Michael Cicek responding 90 seconds later to tie the game with an assist from Andrew Cristall.
The Rockets went up 2-1 just over two minutes later on a goal by John Babcock.
Spokane tied the game on the power play at 8:14 of the second period as Lukas Kral fired one past Rockets goaltender Jake Pilon, the only goal in the period.
The ChiefsÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™ Owen Schoettler took a five-minute major for checking to the head at 16:25 and was given a game misconduct two minutes after that.
IginlaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s first goal of the game came on the power play 44 seconds into the third period with assists from Pilon and Cristall.
Cicek netted what turned out to be the game-winner just 35 seconds later, with Iginla getting the assist.
The Chiefs added one more, by Berkly Catton, about halfway through the third.
Iginla added his second goal at 15:51 and his third, and empty netter, 18 seconds before the game ended, giving him four points on the night and first-star honours.
Cicek was named second star, with two goals and one assist, Pilon grabbed the third spot with 36 saves.
Kelowna sits in sixth place in the Western Conference with 5 points (2-2-1-0).
The Rockets host the Victoria Royals Oct. 9 at Prospera Place. Game time is 12:35 p.m.
