Kelowna's gold medal-winning Olympian will be greeting fans on Saturday night at the Okanagan Sun game.
Olympian Jerome Blake will be in attendance with his new gold medal, ahead of the team's massive game against the Westshore Rebels (5-2).
Blake won gold in the 4x100 relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics with teammates Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, and Andre De Grasse. They finished with a time of 37.50 seconds, winning Canada's first gold in the event since 1996.
He will be at the front gates starting at 6 p.m. until the end of the first quarter.
Additionally, it is also the team's third annual Burn Fund Classic. Former Sun player Bobby Davis and many other firefighters from the Kelowna and West Kelowna departments will be in attendance raising money for the Burn Fund. The firefighters will also be taking on kids in a battle of tug-of-war at halftime.
With a win, the Sun will improve to 9-0 on the season and clinch first place and home-field advantage in the British Columbia Football Conference.
Kick off is at 7 p.m. at the Apple Bowl.
