Make it three wins in a row for the Kelowna Rockets as they shut out the Vancouver Giants 4-0 on Friday night (Dec. 1).
After a scoreless first 15 minutes, the Rockets scored twice in 1:46 to take a 2-0 lead late in the first period. The goals came from captain Gabriel Szturc and defenceman John Babcock. For Szturc, it was his 12th goal of the year while BabcockÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s was his second of the campaign.
Each team had 11 shots in the second period but it remained 2-0 Rockets after two.
Kelowna put the game away in the third period as Dylan Wightman scored on the powerplay, his seventh goal on the season at exactly the 10:00 minute mark of the frame.
With just over a minute to go, Andrew Cristall scored an empty-netter to make it 4-0. It was his 15th goal of the season. That was also his fourth point of the night as he assisted in the other three goals.
Jari Kykkanen was great in net, making 31 saves for the shutout.
With the win, the Rockets have won three in a row and sit seventh in the Western Conference with a 11-13-2-0 record.
The team is heading down the I5 to take on the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday night. Puck drop is at 6:05 p.m. at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, WA.
