Kelowna Rockets head coach Kris Mallette has added to his coaching staff as Derrick Martin is the team's new assistant coach.
The 39-year-old was most recently the head coach and general manager for the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
Previously, he was assistant coach with the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL and head coach of the Okanagan Hockey Academy Edmonton U15 prep team.
Martin replaces Josh MacNevin, who left the Rockets to become assistant coach of the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League.
Recently, the Rockets also hired a new communications and social media director, replacing Paige Bednorz, who left the organization to join the Edmonton Oilers digital team.
