West Kelowna Warriors punish Penticton Vees at Royal LePage Place

A five-goal second period powered the West Kelowna Warriors to a 6-3 win over the Penticton Vees at Royal LePage Place on Dec. 16.

The Warriors got off to a rough start as the Vees scored three unanswered goals in the first period off the sticks of Callum Arnott, James Fisher, and Cade Littler. Fisher and Littler scored on the power play.

However, it was all West Kelowna in the second.

Trent Wilson got the offence going early as he scored at the 1:02 mark, assisted by Jack Pridham.

Just 55 seconds later Felix Caron scored on the power play with assists to Michael Salandra and Isaiah Norlin.

Penticton took four penalties in the second frame.

Salandra made it 3-3 at the 4:10 mark, assisted by Eliot Compton and Trey Ausmus.

At 7:54 of the second Kaiden Schaupmeyer put the Warriors up by one, with Pridham and Norlin assisting on the goal.

Pridham scored just over four minutes later to make it 5-3 with assists going to Jackson Kyrkostas and Viggo Nordstrom.

Caron netted his second of the night, with an empty net goal, at 17:55 of the third period, assisted by Norlin.

The win was payback for West Kelowna after they lost to the Vees in Penticton in overtime the night before (Dec. 15).

It also keeps them in second place behind the Vees in the Interior Conference with a record of 19-6-3-0 with 41 points.

The Warriors now break for Christmas with their next game on Dec. 29 in Prince George.
