The regional district is offering rebates to Central Okanagan residents to trade in old gas-powered yard equipment for electric models.
The $150 rebate applies to leaf blowers, lawnmowers, trimmers, or chainsaws (two-stroke or four-stroke gas engines).

To qualify for the maximum rebate to cover up to 50 per cent of the cost of new equipment, residents must provide a receipt for a new electric leaf blower, lawnmower, trimmer, or chainsaw.
Equipment must have a noise rating limit of up to 65 decibels (dB) for leaf blowers and up to 75 dB for lawnmowers. Noise rating does not apply to chainsaw and hedge trimmers.
A recycling receipt for old gas-fueled lawn or garden equipment must also be provided. Residents can visit the website to find a recycling facility.
Residents also need to complete an online application form on the . Rebates are limited to one per household.
Funding is limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
