A pre-trial conference began Thursday, Oct. 31, for the person accused of killing a man who was found on the shores of Okanagan Lake back in 2022.
Wyne Zablan appeared in a Kelowna B.C. Supreme Courtroom on the charges of first-degree murder for the death of Fung Sheng Lau stemming from an incident on July 29, 2022.
Information presented at the pre-trial conference is barred from publication under a court-orderd ban. The pre-trial conference is used to organize evidence in front of a Justice and ensure a smooth proceedings in long, complicated or jury trials.
Zablan was arrested shortly after the body of Lau was found, and has remained in custody since.
When Lau香蕉视频直播檚 body was found on the shore of Okanagan Lake, near the Shelter Bay Marina, the RCMP asked for the public香蕉视频直播檚 assistance in identifying the victim. The police described the victim as a man of Asian ethnicity, between 20-40 years old and of average height. The Kelowna RCMP also told the public that a vehicle was involved in Lau香蕉视频直播檚 death.
He did apply for bail on April 11 but was denied. Due to two publication bans imposed on Zablan香蕉视频直播檚 case, no details from that bail hearing can be published.
Zablan香蕉视频直播檚 case will be tried by a jury. The trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 20, 2025, in a Kelowna B.C. Supreme courtroom.
