Online fundraiser launched for Kelowna mom, teen after house fire

A GoFundMe has been started for a single mom and her teenage daughter after a fire broke out in their Kelowna home on Nov. 26. 

Started by a family friend, the states the house is inhabitable and the single mom doesn't have renters insurance. 

The Kelowna Fire Department responded to a house fire just after 5 p.m. on Nov. 26 at Columbus Terrace in Rutland. 

Fire crews were able to contain the blaze to one unit, and one of three cats was rescued and revived by firefighters on scene. 

The fundraiser aims to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of a hotel while looking for a rental, security deposit and first months rent on a new place, and to replace the necessities they've lost.
