The District of Lake Country is working to manage development within flood plains in the community.
At council香蕉视频直播檚 March 18 meeting, staff were directed to create a flood strategy management bylaw. This follows a notice of motion made by Councillor Tricia Brett in 2024. She was particularly concerned with the Woodsdale neighbourhood, and potential impacts on water quality and quantity in Wood Lake, Winfield and Middle Vernon creeks.
The bylaw will designate flood plains, regulate development (how and where buildings can be constructed), contribute to community resilience and provide provisions for risk assessment.

Council has directed staff to apply for provincial funding in creating the flood management bylaw. The district will consult with the building and development during drafting of the bylaw, and also keep the public informed.
