A police presence was seen on Nickel Road in Kelowna on Monday night (Oct. 7).
A shows at least six RCMP vehicles and an ambulance.
It's unknown why officers were there but the street was been a topic of conversation for years. Over two years ago, a house on the block (235 Nickel Road) was frequently visited by police because of squatters.
On Sept. 17, 2022, neighbours held a protest against the activities happening in and around the home, and two days later it was boarded up. Eventually, the squatters were evicted.
In Feb. 2023, the townhomes were proposed to be built on the property.
On Apr. 5, 2023, the Kelowna RCMP and Integrated Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) were called to a home six doors down, another home known to police.
