By the power of fundraising throughout the holiday season, Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) will soon be able to replace aging cardiac equipment to help even more people.
Over the most magical time of the year, the KGH Foundation's Celebrate the Miracles campaign received 801 donations, totalling $486,546. The majority of that money is going to replace the aging echocardiography (ECHO) machines at KGH.
香蕉视频直播淭he generosity of our community over the holiday season never ceases to amaze me,香蕉视频直播 said KGH Foundation CEO Allison Young in a press release. 香蕉视频直播淒onations to our seasonal campaign provide vital support for the areas of greatest need at Kelowna General Hospital. These funds allow us to be nimble and meet the most urgent needs in our hospital and community, and right now, that means equipping our cardiac teams with the best technology they need to save lives."
ECHO machines are critical in discovering, diagnosing, and monitoring heart conditions, sometimes even making the difference between life and death.
Recently, KGH had to remove a machine because of its declining image quality, which meant the hospital couldn't take as many patients in a day. But with the new and improved machines, KGH is back to operating its ECHO lab at full capacity. And with new machines brings new technology, which will reduce patient wait times, improve diagnostic accuracy, enhance pediatric and adult cardiac care, and help keep patients close to home for treatment.
"Early diagnosis saves lives," said KGH medical director of cardiology Dr. Kathryn Brown. "With these critical upgrades, fewer patients will face long wait times, unnecessary travel, or delayed treatment. Instead, they will receive the cardiac care they need right here at home all thanks to generous donors."
Brown is thankful to everyone that donated to make this happen.
香蕉视频直播淲e simply couldn香蕉视频直播檛 acquire this potentially life-saving cardiac equipment at this time without the support of donors,香蕉视频直播 Brown added. 香蕉视频直播淲hether it香蕉视频直播檚 for ourselves, a family member, or a friend, we all know someone who will rely on this equipment one day. Because of this community香蕉视频直播檚 generosity, our cardiac team has the most advanced tools to deliver the best care possible."
The remaining money is going towards other health-care department and regional initiatives like JoeAnna's House.
