UPDATE: Wildfire near Chute Lake Road in Naramata under control

UPDATE (12 p.m.)

A wildfire that sparked Monday evening in the hills north of Naramata is now under control, according to BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

The blaze was discovered near Chute Lake Road and grew to 1.5 hectares in size on Tuesday morning.

It is still suspected to be human-caused, BCWS added in an update.

Fire crews on Tuesday are battling a small blaze in the hills north of Naramata.

A wildfire sparked near Chute Lake Road on Monday evening, Oct. 14, according to the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS).

In an update late on Monday, the RDOS said its protective service team was monitoring the fire and that the situation is "expected to be under control soon."

BC Wildfire Service is categorizing the the blaze as "out of control," as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. It is currently 0.009 hectares in size.

The fire was human-caused, BCWS suspects.
