The scene has been cleared and the highway fully reopened just before 4 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.

Update: 10:37 p.m.

The northbound lanes of Highway 97 from Banks to Leathead Road remain closed following a serious multi-vehicle collision in Kelowna. 

A detour is in effect, however, drivers are asked to avoid the area. Traffic is backed up in both directions along the highway.

However, the southbound lanes of Highway 97 are open.

Update: 7:30 p.m.

RCMP are currently investigating a serious multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 33 and Highway 97. 

Highway 97 is closed to northbound traffic from Banks Road to Leathead Road. The Highway 33 junction is also blocked.

Traffic is being rerouted by RCMP. 

Drivers are to expect major delays and police are asking motorists to avoid the area.

DriveBC is reporting the incident at the intersection of Highway 33 and Highway 97 in Kelowna involves multiple vehicles. 

The road is blocked in all directions and traffic is be redirected. 

Multiple emergency vehicles are on scene of Highway 33 and Highway 97 in Kelowna following a collision. 

The incident happened at about 6:13 p.m. along Highway 33 in the southbound lanes at the intersection with Highway 97. 

DriveBC is reporting delays in all directions for motorists.

This crash occurred just after a multi-vehicle collision at Richter Street and Harvey Avenue. Harvey is blocked in the westbound lanes due to the incident.
