Chamber Music Kelowna is celebrating CanadaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s birthday with special concerts this summer.
The company will present two concerts; the first being the Order of Canada Jazz 150 which will feature Order of Canada recipients and Juno nominees Jens Lindemann trumpet virtuoso and one of his mentors Tommy Banks, the iconic pianist, on Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.
The program from the Legacy (Live) recording will encompass a wide range of standards and styles including Duke Ellington, Astor Piazzolla, and the jazz concerto Dreaming of the Masters. This free Parks Alive! concert at the Island Stage in Waterfront Park starts at 6 p.m. with local saxophonist Craig Thomson and his quartet with jazz vocalist Kinga Heming performing.
The following night, Lindemann will perform with pianist Jennifer Snow at the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. This classical trumpet and piano concert will feature Legend by Georges Enesco, Sonata for Trumpet and Piano, Op. 1 by Alan Gilliland and other works by Gershwin and Piazzolla.
