PHOTOS: Salmon Arm had a Salty Saturday with annual street fest

Precursor event pumped people up for SundayÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Salty Dog Enduro race

Things got a bit Salty in downtown Salmon Arm on Saturday with the return of the annual bike fest and race.

A part of Hudson Street shut down for the Salty Dog Street Fest on Saturday afternoon, May 11, as a precursor to the 22nd annual Enduro Race on Sunday.

Assorted vendors set up around Skookum Cycle and Ski, creating a party atmosphere as people participated in the Scavenger Hunt around the downtown core, bike games and the popular pie-eating contest. Contestants happily hoovered the pastries, donated by the Shuswap Pie Company, as they vied to win and join the upper crust.

After much chewing and cheering, Ty Dunlop polished off his pie to claim the teen/adult title in a repeat of 2022 when he also reigned supreme. Similarly, 10-year-old Hudson Riley kept it in the family with his win, following in his dadÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s footsteps from 2022 as well when Patrick Riley tied with Dunlop. Whether they can stomach another or not, the winners ate their way to another pie.

Along with the shenanigans, there was also a registration tent set up for rider to pick up their racer package for the real endurance test, the six-hour biking event the following day.
