Juno nominee and trumpet virtuoso visits Kelowna

Trumpeter Jens Lindemann has been described as part ballet dancer, gymnast, and magician.

Chamber Music Kelowna presents two concerts this summer to celebrate CanadaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s 150th anniversary. The first, the Order of Canada Jazz 150 concert, will feature Order of Canada recipients and Juno nominees and trumpet virtuoso Lindemann and mentor Tommy Banks, the iconic pianist, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.

The program from the Legacy (Live) recording will encompass a wide range of standards and styles including Duke Ellington, Astor Piazzolla, and the jazz concerto Dreaming of the Masters.

The free Parks Alive! at the Island Stage in Waterfront Park starts at 6 p.m. with local saxophonist Craig Thomson and his Quartet with jazz vocalist Kinga Heming performing.

On Aug. 17, Lindemann will perform again with pianist Jennifer Snow at the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts at 7:30 p.m.
